Spending the past week at Living the New Economy was a real inspiration. We had the opportunity to learn about so many incredible projects that are underway here in Vancouver. There was Shift (http://www.shift.coop/), a company offering human-powered deliveries on their custom cargo trikes. There was Mushboo (http://mushboo.com/), a company that collects used coffee grounds and uses them to grow gourmet mushrooms. There were Urban Farmers, Micro-lenders, co-ops, community centers, and more. Not to mention all the wonderful people who stopped by to ask us questions about Cocreatrix, share their ideas, and give so much positive feedback. Thanks! You energized us to keep going with this project. And there were our friends at Seedstock (http://seedstock.ca/), a community currency that will help keep money in the local economy – and provide the ‘blood’ of this new economy (and an organization that we are very excited to co-lab with in the near future).
The whole thing got me thinking about seeds. In a way each of these projects are seeds, waiting to blossom as we shift into healthier, more sustainable modes of living. And in a similar way each of us are seeds – with our ideas, dreams and visions; our talents, knowledge, and skills; and with our creative energy – we are bursting with potential to co-create this ‘big change’ which we are collectively calling for. And when we weave these seeds together, they can form one healthy social ecosystem – a system where we collaborate, share resources, and support each other on a daily basis.
This vision is at the heart of Cocreatrix. We see this potential, and want to offer the tools that will facilitate this ‘weaving together’. With a platform that makes our community resources visible and accessible we can self organize and make a lot of positive change (and have fun doing it!). I can’t wait.
